From the kitchen to the gym — one home for our apps
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains the practical data handling position for Chef Edition, a mobile app published under NoteStep.
Last updated: June 14, 2026.
This policy applies to the Chef Edition mobile app, the related public website pages, and support messages sent through NoteStep.
This policy is intended to describe the actual product data flow in clear language. It does not replace any mandatory app store disclosure, platform privacy label, or additional notice that may be required by law in a specific region.
Who operates this app
Chef Edition is part of the NoteStep app family. NoteStep maintains the app-facing website, support flow, privacy page, and terms page for this product.
The public website is a static website. Website contact form submissions are sent through the configured email provider so NoteStep can respond to support, account, billing, and privacy requests.
For privacy requests, identify the app name, the account email if applicable, the request type, and the information needed to locate the relevant app account or app store purchase.
Scope of this policy
This policy covers information processed through Chef Edition, the public Chef Edition website pages, app support messages, and app-related operational systems used to provide the product.
This policy does not control Apple, Google, payment processors, device operating systems, browser providers, or other third-party services that have their own terms and privacy practices.
If a third-party app store, login provider, email provider, analytics provider, diagnostics provider, cloud provider, or AI provider processes information under its own policy, that provider is responsible for its own disclosures and obligations.
Categories of information we may handle
Chef Edition may handle account identifiers, app usage events, device and diagnostic context, subscription status, and app content such as recipes, recipe images, chef collections, favorites, friends, groups, events, profile details, and support context.
When you send a website support message, we may receive your name, email address, message text, selected app context, and the page path that sent the request.
App content may include recipe titles, ingredients, cooking notes, recipe photos, favorite lists, collection names, event details, group or friend relationships, profile display details, and other cooking-related content you choose to save.
Commercial and transaction-related information may include app store product identifiers, purchase entitlement status, subscription renewal state, cancellation state, trial state, refund-related status, and non-payment metadata needed to unlock paid features.
Device, usage, and diagnostics information may include timestamps, approximate request context, device type, operating system, app version, crash details, performance events, feature usage events, language settings, and security logs.
We do not intentionally collect government identification numbers, full payment card numbers, private authentication codes, or unrelated sensitive documents through the website support form.
Sources of information
We receive information directly from you when you use the app, create or edit app content, adjust settings, make a support request, or submit a privacy request.
We may receive limited operational information from your device, app store account status, subscription status provider, cloud infrastructure, diagnostics tools, email provider, and other providers needed to run the app.
We may derive information from your app activity, such as progress summaries, saved collection state, feature status, entitlement state, or troubleshooting context.
How we use information
We use information to operate Chef Edition, help you save, organize, and plan cooking activity, provide customer support, troubleshoot errors, verify subscription access, improve reliability, and respond to legal or privacy requests.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use website support messages for public advertising profiles.
We may use information to prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, unauthorized access, payment circumvention, spam, and misuse of support channels.
We may use information to comply with app store rules, tax and accounting obligations, legal requests, dispute handling, recordkeeping duties, and enforcement of applicable terms.
We may aggregate or de-identify information so it no longer reasonably identifies a person, and may use that information for product quality, analytics, planning, and reliability work.
Recipes, collections, and social cooking content
Chef Edition content may include recipe details, recipe images, collection names, favorites, profile information, friends, groups, events, and related organization data you create or choose to save.
You are responsible for choosing what information you enter into the app. Do not enter information you do not want processed for the app features you use.
Recipe, image, friend, group, and event features may require storing and syncing content so it remains available across app sessions and supported devices.
Food preparation, allergies, nutrition, storage, ingredient substitutions, and cooking safety decisions remain your responsibility. The app is not designed for emergency use, regulated professional advice, or decisions requiring a licensed professional.
Automation and generated cooking content
Chef Edition may use stored recipe or planning context to organize cooking content, display suggestions, or support future product features. Any generated or suggested cooking content should be reviewed before use.
Automated or generated content may be processed by service providers that help operate the app feature. Do not enter information into generated-content features that you do not want processed for that feature.
We may log limited prompt, output, error, safety, and usage context when needed to operate, troubleshoot, secure, or improve the feature, subject to provider settings and app configuration.
How information may be shared
Apple App Store and Google Play may process purchases, subscriptions, refunds, tax, and payment details according to their own terms and privacy practices.
The app may use infrastructure, authentication, storage, database, subscription status, email, analytics, diagnostics, and AI service providers only as needed to operate the product and support users.
Service providers are expected to process information for the services they provide to NoteStep and not for unrelated independent purposes.
We may disclose information if required to comply with law, legal process, safety obligations, platform rules, fraud prevention, security investigations, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of NoteStep, users, providers, or the public.
If NoteStep is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, app-related information may be transferred or reviewed as part of that transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
Website, cookies, and contact forms
The public website is designed as a static product website. It may still load hosting, security, analytics, font, image, email, or deployment infrastructure that receives standard technical request information.
If the website uses cookies, local storage, analytics scripts, or similar technologies, they are used for site operation, security, performance, debugging, analytics, or contact form delivery.
Contact form submissions may include the selected app, page path, message content, submitted contact details, timestamps, and provider delivery metadata so NoteStep can respond and diagnose delivery issues.
Retention and deletion
We keep information only as long as needed for app operation, customer support, security, compliance, accounting, dispute handling, and backup recovery.
If you request deletion, some records may remain where required for store purchase records, fraud prevention, legal obligations, security logs, or backup rotation.
Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove all copies from encrypted backups or provider logs, but backup copies are retained only for limited operational and recovery purposes.
Security safeguards
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate for a small mobile app service, such as provider access controls, platform security controls, authentication protections, encrypted transport where supported, and operational monitoring.
No mobile app, website, network, storage system, or provider can be guaranteed perfectly secure. You should protect your device, account credentials, app store account, and email account.
If you believe your account, app data, or support message has been accessed without authorization, contact NoteStep with the app name and relevant account context.
Sensitive information, health, and children
Chef Edition is a cooking organization app. Do not submit passwords, payment card numbers, private authentication codes, or sensitive personal information through the website form.
Chef Edition may include food, recipe, and allergy-related notes that you choose to enter. The app does not verify allergens, nutrition, food safety, ingredient suitability, or health claims.
Chef Edition is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact NoteStep so the request can be reviewed.
If a jurisdiction requires a higher minimum age or parental consent for app use, you are responsible for following that local requirement.
Your choices and privacy requests
You may contact NoteStep to request access, correction, deletion, or export of app-related information where applicable.
Use the Chef Edition support form and include the app name, your account email if relevant, the request type, and enough detail to identify the account or store purchase.
We may need to verify your identity or account relationship before acting on a privacy request. If a request cannot be verified, is technically impossible, conflicts with legal obligations, or affects another user's rights, we may limit or deny the request where permitted by law.
Regional privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal information.
If local law gives you additional privacy rights, NoteStep will review requests under the law that applies to the product, the user, and the information involved.
You may also have the right to appeal or complain to a privacy authority where local law provides that right.
United States state privacy notices
Some United States state privacy laws may require notices about categories of personal information collected, purposes of use, categories of disclosure, retention, and user rights. The sections above describe those categories for this app in practical terms.
NoteStep does not sell personal information and does not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through website support messages.
Where applicable, you may request access, deletion, correction, portability, or opt-out review. NoteStep will evaluate each request based on the law that applies to your location, account, and information.
International use and data transfer
If you use the app or website from outside the United States, information may be processed in countries where NoteStep or its service providers operate.
Data protection laws may differ from the laws in your location. Where required, NoteStep will rely on available lawful transfer mechanisms, provider safeguards, contractual protections, or other measures appropriate for the service.
Some app features may not be available in every country because of platform rules, provider availability, store approval, legal requirements, or operational limits.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the product, providers, legal requirements, app store rules, support flow, or data handling practices change.
The updated date at the top of the policy shows when the page was last revised. Continued use of the app or website after an update means the updated policy applies to future use.
If a material change requires additional notice or consent under applicable law, NoteStep will provide it in a reasonable manner for the product and platform involved.
