Terms of Use

These terms describe the baseline rules for using Chef Edition and the related NoteStep website pages.

Last updated: June 14, 2026.

By using Chef Edition or the related NoteStep website pages, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.

These terms are written for the public product website and mobile app experience. Additional app store rules, subscription rules, privacy disclosures, or platform requirements may also apply.

Agreement and eligibility

Chef Edition is provided by NoteStep as part of the NoteStep app family. These terms form an agreement between you and NoteStep for your use of the app and related website pages.

You may use the app only if you can legally agree to these terms and are not prohibited from using the app under applicable law, app store rules, sanctions rules, or account restrictions.

If you use the app on behalf of another person, household, organization, or account holder, you are responsible for making sure you have authority to do so and that your use complies with these terms.

Using the app responsibly

Chef Edition is provided for saving recipes, organizing collections, planning cooking activity, and coordinating cooking-related social features. You are responsible for the information you enter, the actions you take, and the decisions you make based on app content.

The app is a productivity and tracking tool. It is not a substitute for professional legal, financial, nutrition, food safety, allergy, health, or professional cooking advice.

You must use the app only in a lawful manner and only for personal or permitted internal purposes. You are responsible for making sure your use complies with laws, platform rules, and any rules that apply to your account or device.

You are responsible for checking ingredients, allergens, food handling, storage, cooking temperature, kitchen safety, nutrition suitability, and recipe accuracy before relying on any cooking content.

Limited app license

Subject to these terms and any applicable app store rules, NoteStep grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

You do not receive ownership of the app, source code, brand, design system, templates, or other NoteStep intellectual property.

You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, bypass security, or create competing derivative services from protected parts of the app except where the law expressly allows it.

NoteStep ownership and brand rights

NoteStep, the NoteStep name, app names, app icons, visual design, interface patterns, website content, product copy, software, and related materials are owned by NoteStep or its licensors unless otherwise stated.

These terms do not grant you rights to use NoteStep branding, app branding, logos, screenshots, product names, or marketing assets for commercial purposes without permission.

Feedback, suggestions, bug reports, or ideas you submit may be used by NoteStep without restriction or compensation, provided that NoteStep does not claim ownership of your underlying personal app content.

Accounts and user content

You are responsible for keeping account access secure and for making sure content you upload or enter is lawful, accurate enough for your use, and does not violate another person's rights.

Recipe text, food images, profile details, collections, friends, groups, and event information should only be added when you have the right to use or share that content.

User content may include recipes, recipe photos, saved collections, friends, groups, cooking events, profile details, comments, notes, and related cooking content.

You keep ownership of content you create, but you grant NoteStep the permission needed to host, process, display, sync, back up, transmit, format, analyze, troubleshoot, and support that content for the app features you choose to use.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content and that your content does not infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, contract, or other legal rights.

Content review and removal

NoteStep may remove, restrict, preserve, or decline to process content when reasonably necessary to operate the app, comply with law, enforce these terms, protect users, address abuse, or respond to provider or platform requirements.

NoteStep is not obligated to monitor every item of user content, and failure to remove content immediately does not waive any right to enforce these terms later.

If you believe content in the app violates your rights, provide enough detail for NoteStep to identify the app, account, content, and claimed issue.

Subscriptions and purchases

If paid features are offered, subscription billing, refunds, cancellation, and payment methods are handled by the app store account used to purchase.

Access to paid features may depend on store purchase state and subscription status services used by the app. Removing the app from a device may not cancel a subscription.

Subscription availability, pricing, taxes, trials, renewals, cancellation windows, refunds, and regional availability may vary by platform, country, account status, and app store rules.

Chef Edition may offer yearly or lifetime premium access depending on platform availability and store approval.

You are responsible for reviewing the price, renewal term, cancellation instructions, trial terms, and refund rules shown by the app store before purchase.

If subscription status cannot be verified because of a store outage, account mismatch, provider issue, device issue, or network problem, paid features may be delayed or unavailable until the entitlement state can be confirmed.

Refunds, cancellations, and store control

Deleting the app, deleting an account, stopping use, or contacting NoteStep does not automatically cancel an app store subscription.

To cancel renewal, you must use the subscription management tools provided by the app store account used for purchase. Refund requests are handled under the refund process and policy of the applicable app store.

NoteStep may provide support context about the product or entitlement state, but it does not control final payment approval, tax handling, refund approval, payment method changes, or store account decisions.

Cooking guidance

Chef Edition may help organize recipes, menus, gatherings, and cooking notes. You remain responsible for food safety, allergies, ingredient choices, nutrition decisions, and safe preparation.

App content may be incomplete, delayed, generated, user-entered, or incorrect. Review important information before relying on it.

Chef Edition does not guarantee that recipes are allergen-free, nutritionally accurate, safe for every user, compatible with every appliance, or appropriate for every dietary requirement.

Generated or suggested cooking content

If Chef Edition provides generated, suggested, organized, or automated cooking content, you must review it before use and adjust it for ingredients, allergies, equipment, skill level, and food safety.

Generated output may be based on incomplete inputs, provider limitations, model limitations, or incorrect user data. It may be inaccurate, repetitive, unsuitable, or unavailable.

You may not use generated output to create dangerous instructions, illegal content, harassment, fraud, or any use that violates these terms or provider rules.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the app, interfere with service operation, reverse engineer protected parts of the software, or use support channels to submit abusive, unlawful, or harmful content.

Do not attempt unauthorized access, scrape protected systems, bypass payment controls, impersonate another person, upload malware, or use the app to violate laws or third-party rights.

Do not submit content that is illegal, abusive, deceptive, infringing, invasive of privacy, harmful to minors, or intended to disrupt the app or another user experience.

Prohibited technical conduct

You may not interfere with, overload, probe, scan, test, or attack the app, website, APIs, infrastructure, subscriptions, authentication systems, analytics, diagnostics, or provider integrations.

You may not automate account creation, abuse support forms, scrape non-public data, bypass rate limits, bypass purchase checks, use modified clients to unlock paid features, or misrepresent entitlement state.

You may not upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, exploit vulnerabilities, or use the app to compromise another service, account, device, or user.

Availability and changes

The app and website may change, pause, or discontinue features over time. Some features may depend on network access, store approval, device compatibility, third-party services, or subscription state.

NoteStep may update these terms when the product, providers, legal requirements, or support flow changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.

NoteStep may add, remove, rename, redesign, limit, or discontinue features without guaranteeing backward compatibility with every older device, operating system, app version, region, or account state.

Third-party services and platforms

The app may depend on app stores, authentication, database, storage, subscription status, email, diagnostics, analytics, AI, and other infrastructure providers.

Third-party services may have their own terms, privacy practices, outages, limits, review processes, and account rules. NoteStep is not responsible for third-party services outside its control.

If an app store or provider changes rules, pricing, availability, technical limits, or account status, some app features may change or become temporarily unavailable.

Privacy and data handling

Chef Edition processes app data, support requests, subscription status, diagnostics, and other information as described in the applicable privacy disclosures for the app.

You are responsible for the information you choose to enter into the app or support form. Do not submit passwords, payment card numbers, private authentication codes, medical records, or unrelated sensitive documents through website support messages.

Some app data may remain in backups, logs, purchase records, security records, tax records, provider systems, or dispute files for limited periods where retention is necessary or legally permitted.

Suspension and termination

NoteStep may suspend or limit access where reasonably necessary to protect users, the app, providers, security, legal compliance, payment systems, or service reliability.

You may stop using the app at any time. Stopping use, deleting the app, or deleting an account may not automatically cancel a store subscription unless the app store confirms cancellation.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, payment obligations, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute-related provisions, continue to apply.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the app, website, content, generated output, support information, and related services are provided as-is and as-available without warranties of any kind.

NoteStep does not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, operate without interruption, preserve all data without loss, remain compatible with every device, or produce accurate or reliable results.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some disclaimer language may not apply to you. In that case, the disclaimer applies only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Warranty and liability

The app and website are provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the fullest extent allowed by law. NoteStep does not promise uninterrupted, error-free, or loss-free operation.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, NoteStep is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the app or website.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, NoteStep is not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, personal decisions, health decisions, food safety decisions, training decisions, or reliance on inaccurate user-entered or generated content.

Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be limited, including any non-waivable consumer rights that apply in your location.

Your responsibility for claims

To the extent allowed by law, you are responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your misuse of the app, violation of these terms, violation of law, infringement of rights, or content you submit.

This responsibility does not apply where prohibited by consumer protection law or where the claim is caused by NoteStep conduct that cannot legally be disclaimed.

If a claim arises from your account or content, you agree to cooperate reasonably with NoteStep in investigating and resolving the issue.

Legal compliance and disputes

You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to your use of the app, including consumer, privacy, intellectual property, safety, export, sanctions, and platform rules.

If a dispute arises, first contact NoteStep with the app name, account context, purchase context if relevant, and a clear description of the issue so the matter can be reviewed.

Any dispute terms that cannot lawfully apply in your location will be interpreted only to the maximum extent permitted by law, and mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Support, notices, and severability

Chef Edition has separate public privacy and support information for app-related data handling, account questions, billing questions, subscription questions, data requests, and technical support.

When contacting NoteStep, include the app name and enough detail to identify the issue. Do not send passwords, payment card numbers, authentication codes, or highly sensitive information in a website support message.

NoteStep may provide notices through the app, website, app store listing, support response, or other reasonable product communication channel.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply to the fullest extent allowed by law. A failure to enforce a term immediately does not waive the right to enforce it later.
